Energy and Utilities
Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell helps international and regional clients solve a wide range of complex energy problems by combining industry experience and regulatory insight with economic analysis, business understanding and legal know-how. We represent regulated and merchant power suppliers and developers, and electric and natural gas transmission and distribution companies. We also serve as counsel and advisors to an international, unregulated energy company.
PERMITTING AND COMPLIANCE
We develop and implement permit strategies for the design, siting, construction and operation of energy generation, transmission and distribution facilities. The firm has developed database management tools to track energy facility permitting and the acquisition and condemnation of transmission rights of way.
GCG has a substantial practice before the Energy Facility Siting and Evaluation Committee — having secured approvals for an international natural gas pipeline, a 525-megawatt combined cycle electric generation plant, and an exemption from certification for a petroleum "fuel transfer" pipeline.
We regularly appear before the Public Utilities Commission and the Nuclear Decommissioning Finance Committee and other authorities throughout New England. Our professionals are experienced in the electric, gas, water, petroleum, LNG, nuclear, and hydroelectric industry sectors.
INDUSTRIAL ENERGY STRATEGIES
We also assist industrial clients in creating efficient energy strategies, including co-generation, using economic and regulatory analysis and cost-benefit analyses of energy options.
